Review:
I was fortunate to see this film, much earlier than most. I think Anderson is really hitting its stride this. It is strange that when leaving the theater, I wondered about most things, what the hell is he going to do next! Master is not an easy film to sit through, and sometimes you do not know what the movie is like. But then realized that the movie does not want anything. All requests for you to watch. More than in his earlier film, Master and blood actually venture into film purely cinematic presentation of life. Anderson did not make a judgment or any point of view, it simply extends the canvas allows her characters to speak for themselves. Yes, there is a beginning, middle and an end, but there? Do we really have a sense of catharsis in the end there will be blood? or we can just understand people better? Anderson insisted, and I'm sure he would say the same for this film, there will be blood is not a metaphor for anything. That is what it is. No hidden meanings or complex and often stereotyped overtones. Its only human. How Hoffmans character says in the trailer for the Master - But first, I man.The film deals with an interesting idea leaders against soldiers against the slave master. It destroys relationships anatomy so you can interpret it in any case taken Yad like. Its beautiful 65/70mm film that I saw and how I recommend you see it if you get the chance. Feel almost as if Anderson is giving the finger to the digital revolution by shooting his film resolution is so high that digital can only dream of getting there in ten years or so.The action and dialogue prevoshoden as toxic expectations. Phoenix and Hoffman to another level here, especially Phoenix as a lifetime. There are some events in this film, he completely lost on duty. There are also some great supporting work with Laura Dern and others. It is difficult to put the film on his body of work. More than anything, it feels like a natural extension of what he started there will be blood. Not to say that it will continue to go this route, but it is definitely more narrowly focused film than some of his early work group. I found it more interesting than some of his other works, and yet never be bored. You're always on your feet, trying to understand what is happening and where the film will lead you. It really is such a person, a fascinating piece of work.
