In Hellboy, when Guillermo Del Toro lovingly recreated panels from artist / creator Mike Mignolas comics and brought them to vibrant life, setting a new benchmark for adaptations that respect their source material. Sin City, is co-director Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller done more to recreate the brutal chiaroscuro of Miller's stark post-modern artwork noir, they get the essence and the Aesthetic of Basin City (as much a character as Marv or Hartigan) and brought its universe and characters in a stunning three-dimensional life. And not like Hellboy, who suffered from a weak, confusing script, Sin City weaves a Pulp Fiction-esque story that snake through dark streets and crooked alleys of this heinous as a metropolis fever dream.In cards, Sin City delivers stunning ballet bullet and blood, dames and danger at every turn. Its a kinetic masterpiece of pop culture for the new millennium (and a case can be made that this is the film that CGI was invented). As Frank Miller fan for over 25 years, I know his work and I know Sin City? Sin City and it will knock your socks off if you are an enthusiast or a beginner on dark delight of his depraved imagination and brutal style. Exceeding my expectations on all levels, this film ranks as one of the most enjoyable movie-going experiences I've had in years.Everything works here. From Rodriguez cinematography and editing, the seamless direction (ie no great feat when you consider Robert co-directed by Miller and Quentin Tarantino have joined the mix Special Guest Director), for spot-on Foundry opening. The script gives Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, Clive Owen and Benicio Del Toro ample opportunity to chew the scenery? and they, especially Rourke, who, despite his mouth buried under a thick layer of latex gruesome, delivers one of the best presentations of his career, and steals the show as Marv, the giant bully that with broken hearts. The ladies hold their own, too. Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Brittany Murphy and Jaime King all excellent in their roles, especially Dawson as a machine gun-wielding Dominatrix / whore mother Gail. And respect for Elijah Wood (proving that there is life after Hobbits) and Nick Stahl, providing contrasting performances as vile villains, the ultra-creepy Kevin and disgusting yellow bastard, respectively.Sin city The smart, stylish, sexy and sick. It also violent and funny. Definitely not a movie for the whole family, but for those of us who visits our R rated movie, this movie kicks to the head and gut as a mule.Heres hope Sin City makes a workshop of mint, for a 10,000 stories naked; wake (sinful) city, and it is only a small number of them. Im to ask for a picture perfect sequel.A it for ten cineast.
